How Jones Skips Brought Four Systems into One with Waste Logics
Jones Skips runs around 50 vehicles across skip hire, RoRo, trade waste and its own MRF. As the business grew, four disconnected systems made information harder to find and created more work between teams. Waste Logics brought the operation onto one platform, giving teams access to the same information and saving days of admin every week.

The Challenge
Jones Skips had not deliberately set out to run four different systems. Software had been added over time until skip hire, trade waste, the weighbridge and accounts were all operating separately, while drivers relied on WhatsApp. As the business grew, so did the gaps between them. Staff had to find the right person or department to get information, customer service regularly called transport for job updates, and someone physically counted skips in the yard every day because there was no live stock view. The systems still worked, but the admin around them was growing faster than the business.
The systems we had were old and clunky. They worked for us when we were smaller, but as we grew it got harder to get information and created more work for us across the business that wasn’t generating revenue

The Decision
Consolidate the systems without disrupting the operation
Jones Skips needed more than replacement software. It needed the job itself connected, so information could be captured as work happened and shared across teams without changing how the whole business worked overnight. The rollout was phased. Trade waste moved first because of its higher daily job volumes, followed by skip hire once the team was comfortable with the system. That approach gave teams time to learn Waste Logics while the day-to-day operation kept moving. The trade waste implementation went so smoothly that moving skip hire over became an easy decision.
Partnering with a trusted provider like Waste Logics gave us the confidence that consolidating a fragmented landscape of systems into a single platform would meaningfully reduce the challenges typically associated with a rollout of this scale.

The Impact
8+ hours of administration saved every week
The Driver App captures job status, photos, signatures and weights as work happens, cutting time spent chasing tickets, paperwork and job information.
5 hours of re-keying saved every week
Connected workflows mean information no longer needs to be repeatedly entered across separate systems.
Hours of manual invoicing reduced to a few clicks
Teams have better visibility of jobs, drivers and operational information, while managers have easier access to reporting across waste streams, pricing and financial performance.
Teams work more closely together
The change has also helped previously separate teams work more closely together.
Hours of manual invoicing reduced to a few clicks
Driver progress is visible throughout the day, while Connect SMS automatically keeps customers updated.
Stronger evidence when jobs are disputed
Photos are date and time stamped against the job number, giving the team clear evidence of what happened on site

Customer Q&A
In their own words
What has changed most since moving to one system?
“Moving to a new system can feel like a daunting task for any waste business, but the process was smooth. Everything now sits in one place. If I’ve got a query with a job, I’ve got everything I need to know about it. It’s a lot clearer and a lot more visible. That alone gives us a day back a week.”

Room to keep growing
For Jones Skips, the move was not about modernising software for its own sake. As the business grows, larger customers expect more information about every job, including weights, material details and proof of collection. With the operation now working from one connected system, Jones has the visibility and reporting it needs to meet those expectations without adding the same level of manual admin.
