Skip Hire

How Jones Skips Brought Four Systems into One with Waste Logics
Jones Skips operates more than 50 vehicles across skip hire, RoRo, trade waste and its own MRF. As the business grew, four disconnected systems made information harder to find, increased manual work and created silos between teams.

Before
The Challenge
As Jones Skips grew, the systems that had worked for a smaller operation struggled to keep up. Skip hire, trade waste, the weighbridge and accounts all ran on separate software, while drivers communicated with the office through WhatsApp. Finding information often meant contacting another department and waiting for an answer. Customer service regularly had to contact transport just to answer basic questions about jobs. With no live view of skip availability either, someone also had to physically count the skips in the yard each day. Jones Skips needed to bring its operation together and make information easier to access across the business.
The Decision
The Solution
Jones Skips moved to Waste Logics in phases, starting with trade waste before bringing skip hire onto the platform. With both divisions using Waste Logics, teams now work from the same information rather than separate systems. The Driver App captures job statuses, photographs, signatures and weights as work happens, removing the need to wait for paperwork or manually rekey information. Customer service can see driver progress without repeatedly contacting transport, while Connect SMS automatically lets customers know when their driver is on the way. Accounts has also reduced the time spent manually raising invoices.
